Our Favorite Bible Stories and Devotionals
[Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links.]
If you are like we were when we were new parents, you want a Bible devotions or stories book that helps. It also teaches you while it teaches them if you are new to Christianity. Bible stories are wonderful for children who are too young for a “real” Bible. Lovely illustrations make favorite Bible stories real to them.
Often as we did our daily Bible reading, the younger children looked as the matching illustrations in the Bible stories book. The older children who could read had matching Bibles so we were all on the same page.
Here are some of our tried and true favorites.
Leading Little Ones to God
Leading Little Ones to God: A Child’s Book of Bible Teachings is a child’s book of Bible teachings—it’s a classic and one we read to our children when they were little. Each teaching had discussion questions, a suggested reading, a hymn, and a prayer. That’s very helpful for young parents who want to help their children learn about God and grow in their faith.
The Golden Children’s Bible
According the the back cover of The Golden Children’s Bible, it is a “beloved edition of the world’s greatest book, beautifully illustrated and written in a clear, simple style for children.” We agree. The beauty of this book is the way the stories are told based on the King James Version of the Bible and the rich illustrations. It’s classic and a worthy addition to your family library.
Egermeier’s Bible Story Book
Egermeier’s Bible Story Book is another classic book that you can read to young children for family devotions. Dr. Elsie E. Egermeier takes you on a walk through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. She wrote the stories based on the Bible to be understandable and enjoyable for children. The new version has been updated with an excellent Appendix that includes Questions and Answers for the Bible stories, Helpful Bible Information, and Maps.
Hope this helps.
